World Currency League Table - December 2008

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

This month the stronger currencies maintain their positions in the league table. The Ghana New Cedi sneak a position of the Canadian Dollar into 16th and the Georgia Lari puts in a very good show being valued at 1.41 US Dollars and moving up six places to 20th. The biggest loser in the top of the table is the Australian Dollar which moves from 21st position to 25th. The other big loser is the Ukraine Hryvna moving backwards from a high of 54th position to 62nd. Little Iceland is picking itself up after the banking crisis and gains a couple of poistions to 113th.

Zimbabwe offically claims last spot as the world’s weakest currency. The Zimbabwian government redenominated the ZWD on August 1, 2008 at a rate of 10,000,000,000 old ZWD to 1 new ZWD. No new currency code has been issued, but the old ZWD currency remains legal tender until December 31, 2008. The Zimbabwe dollar is worth 0.00000247344 USD.

  • World Currency League Table - November 2008

    Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Welcome to the FriarForex.com world currency league table for November, the list shows the strongest currencies of the world compared to there values against the dollar. Out in front in the small but mighty oil producer Kuwait, followed by it’s Middle Eastern buddies Bahrain and Oman. The UK pound is in at number 5, but given it’s performance lately, they may have to watch out for Jordan! The Euro is followed closely by Azerbaijan’s New Manat and Caymen Island’s Dollar.

The US dollar solid at number 11, but getting beat by Cuba’s Convertible Peso. At the bottom end of the table, Vietnam’s Dong has the unenviable last spot with one US Dollar being worth 17356.8 Dong. Iran, Indonesia and Sao Tome & Principe all now over the 10,000 mark are giving Vietnam some competition.
