World Currency League Table - December 2008
Saturday, December 13th, 2008This month the stronger currencies maintain their positions in the league table. The Ghana New Cedi sneak a position of the Canadian Dollar into 16th and the Georgia Lari puts in a very good show being valued at 1.41 US Dollars and moving up six places to 20th. The biggest loser in the top of the table is the Australian Dollar which moves from 21st position to 25th. The other big loser is the Ukraine Hryvna moving backwards from a high of 54th position to 62nd. Little Iceland is picking itself up after the banking crisis and gains a couple of poistions to 113th.
Zimbabwe offically claims last spot as the world’s weakest currency. The Zimbabwian government redenominated the ZWD on August 1, 2008 at a rate of 10,000,000,000 old ZWD to 1 new ZWD. No new currency code has been issued, but the old ZWD currency remains legal tender until December 31, 2008. The Zimbabwe dollar is worth 0.00000247344 USD.
